At Stinas parents house in Umeå, Sweden

At Stinas parents house in Umeå, Sweden

After 6 weeks filming in Spain it feels great to be up in northern Sweden for a Christmas brake. I spent most of the time in Spain the last 6 weeks except one weekend when I went down to Chile for a drift demo. That was quite a trip for a few days but it all went awesome and the SuperDrift event was great.
After a few days in Stockholm I am now up in Umeå where both myself and Stina’s parents lives. Tomorrow we will travel further up north to spend Christmas at my brothers house. It has been dumping snow all over Sweden so it definitely looks like we all will get a white Christmas.
This is my favorite time of year when I can relax the most. We will do some skiing and ice skating and eat a lot of food. Sounds like a good balance to me.
A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you. I’ll see you next Year with a lot of new exiting things going on.

Super Drift Demo in Chile

Here is a short clip from the Super Drift demo in Chile 2 weeks ago. Check it out!

Here is an interview with Samuel Hubinette

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

It’s good! Samuel Hubinette’s ability to so deftly control a vehicle is one of the reasons he is a highly sought-after stunt-car driver and the current Formula DRIFT points leader (and two-time champion). Antics like the above point-after kick are also what have earned the Swedish-born Samuel Hubinette the nickname “The Crazy Swede”. Chances are, even if you’ve never seen him on the track, you’ve probably seen him through his work in numerous car commercials, as well as in movies such as The Fast and the Furious. With that, another MyRide With.

MyRide: Tell us about your first car and a favorite memory of it.

Samuel Hubinette: I bought a car with another friend of mine. We bought it for really cheap before I even had a driver’s license. We bought it basically to go out and trash it on some gravel roads. We got it for like $100, and it was some old FWD beater, I don’t know, maybe a Toyota or something. We’re like, “Oh, that’s a good deal” and some old person was selling it to us. We took it to a gravel road and just trashed it. After a while we ended up sliding into a ditch and smacking a big rock, and the whole rear-end came off. That was my first car.

SuperDrift in Santiago, Chile

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

I just finished up a Drift Demo in Santiago, Chile. We were 6 FormulaD drivers that got the invitation from RPM Motorsports to come and do drift demos for 3 days. It was myself, Tanner Foust, Chris Forsberg, Robbie Nishida, Ruji Miki and Stefan Verdier. It was nice to get away from the competition mode and just have a blast with the other guys doing demos!
RPM Motorsports had made a great effort to put on a professional and good show. The track that they put up on a parking lot worked out great and it was a good turn out of people through out the weekend.
It was great to be back in the BFG/Royal Purple Drift Viper and to get back in the sideways mode. Not that I have not been going sideways in Spain, but it was great to be back in the real drift car.
The weather was awesome due to the summer season in Chile. But unfortunately I didn’t get to see much more then the race track and the hotel because of my quick 3 days visit there. So I hope to get a tour of the country side next time I’ll go there.
Now I’m back working on the movie in Spain for another few weeks before heading up to Sweden for the holidays.

Check back for more photos/videos later!
